I went on to establish my own workshop — Mean Machines Motorcycles — where we specialize in high-end custom builds, performance tuning, and one-off designs. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to work on a wide range of motorcycles, from vintage café racers to modern performance customs, and everything in between.
As part of my journey, I’ve also had the privilege of teaching and mentoring apprentices. Many of them have gone on to open their own workshops, while others now work in race motorcycle teams or manage professional workshops across Australia. Passing on knowledge and craftsmanship has become one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
I grew up surrounded by the smell of oil, metal, and creativity. By the time I was three, I was already in Dad’s garage. At five, I took apart his CB750—let’s just say the headlight ended up somewhere it shouldn’t have! That early exposure ignited a lifelong obsession with motorcycles and engineering that’s now spanned over 30 years of hands-on building and fabrication.
Over the years Ive had the opportunity to work with several respected motorcycle workshops around Australia, including Deus Ex Machina Camperdown, Fonz motorcycle company and many others. Those experiences gave me invaluable exposure to innovative design, fabrication, and the creative culture of the custom bike world.
Whether you’re a builder, rider, or dreamer, I want to show you what’s possible when you pick up the tools and start building your own story.
Our Story
It all began in 1968 on the island of Mauritius, when my father, Lindsay, purchased his first motorbike—a Laverda 150cc—and started customizing and racing it. From that first CB750 chopper to a career as a Master Technician with BMW across Dubai, France, and Australia, his journey laid the foundation for everything I do today.
My work has been recognized nationally and internationally. I’ve won multiple awards at custom motorcycle shows, been featured in publications and videos including GQ Australia, and even built a custom motorcycle for Triumph Australia. One of my proudest projects was designing and building Australia’s first electric motorcycle — a build that pushed creative and technical boundaries.
In July 2024, my father passed away. To process the loss, I took six months off and built my own old-school Dyna — a project that reconnected me to why I started building bikes in the first place. That experience inspired me to launch Motorcycle Werks — to share everything I’ve learned so others can experience the same freedom, creativity, and satisfaction of building their own motorcycle.
With over 30 years of experience, a deep respect for craftsmanship, and a passion for sharing the art of custom building, I’ve made it my mission to help others Learn. Build. Ride.
